“ In the 21st century, students must be fully engaged. This requires the use of technology tools and resources, involvement with interesting and relevant projects, and learning environments—including online environments—that are supportive and safe. … In the 21st century, educators must be given and be prepared to use technology tools; they must be collaborators in learning—constantly seeking knowledge and acquiring new skills along with their students. ”
– Arne Duncan, U.S. Secretary of Education March 3, 2010.

Web Design & WordPress!

B4C teaches students good foundational software engineering practices through building out their website using WordPress.

Through our B4C program, students will be presented with engaging ideas for projects that will challenge and teach them a variety of valuable, web-based skills. Students will become active rather than passive users of technology and start learning skills that may one day help them to secure a job in our increasingly technology-driven world. Active Users of Technology through Web 2.0!

B4C takes the tools of Web 2.0 beyond the common use of entertainment to important understandings of the world. It is the 21st century way to learn and apply important 21st century skills. Students find their voices as they create projects using multimedia and deliver these products to real-world audiences, realizing that they can make a difference and change the world. They learn what it is to be a contributing citizen, and carry these citizenship skills forward throughout their lives. This is because students have acquired the skills and content in a meaningful, connected way and the understanding is there. They actually KNOW the content on a much higher level of understanding, and they have developed their basic skills by constant application throughout the duration of the unit.
